The Shar Pei is one of only six dog breeds in the world that are considered a «base breed».

You must be wondering, what is a base type? Not only do these dogs have to be «ancient» but they have to have far less mixed DNA than our modern breeds. In other words, these dog breeds were developed in a much more organic and natural way.

Most of the dogs you see today were bred for looks or physical characteristics that helped them with their jobs in society. For example, like how the Border Collie was bred with special shoulder blades that made them mimic a predator (wolf) when herding sheep.

Shih Tzu

a lot to say about this puppy breed. The Shih Tzu has been a popular family companion and lap dog for decades due to its lovable and playful personality. Many pet owners have chosen this breed of dog because of how quickly they adapt and learn in their environment. These pooches are happy in a small or large home as long as there is a ring to warm and toys to play with.

You may be surprised to learn that the Shih Tzu is said to be an ancient Chinese dog breed and was prized by the nobility. They were kept secret, behind palace walls, before they were finally revealed to the outside world in the 20th century. Within a few years, the Shih Tzu was recognized as an official breed by the American Kennel Club and became a popular choice of dog for many households in the US and UK.
